Black Box Wines - An Economical and Environmentally Sound Wine Option

With the holidays approaching, it’s time to start thinking about parties!  Whether you’re hosting or attending them, this is the time of year when parties are abundant.  Recently I was given the chance to host a party featuring Black Box Wines through BzzAgent.  I decided to turn it into a wine tasting, and let me tell you, boxed wine sure has come a long way!  It definitely held its’ own among the bottled wines that were there.

At $20 for the equivalent of 4 bottles, Black Box makes a very economical choice for your holiday parties.  The best part is, if you end up with a lot of leftover wine it stays good for at least 4 weeks since the packaging doesn’t allow air in.  I also love that it uses less resources – its’ recyclable package requires far less energy to produce and transport, reducing the carbon footprint by 50% versus glass bottles.

The one complaint most people had was that the shiraz we tasted didn’t have a distinctive shiraz taste.  If it had been a Red Table Wine, people would have thought it was amazing.  But if you wanted a shiraz, you’ll be a little disappointed.  We also had a pinot grigio, which was very good as well, but also lacked a distinct pinot grigio flavor.

I’m sure that I will be using Black Box wines in the future for hosting parties.  It’s definitely a great bargain!

PROS:  Economical, Environmentally sound packaging, Stays fresh for 4 weeks, Great house wine

CONS:  Lacks a distinctive flavor (tastes more like a blend)
