Happiness Is....A Day at the Pool!

Last week, I took Little Miss to the local pool for the afternoon.  I'd heard a lot about it (it just opened last year), and wanted to check it out for myself.

They had a great children's area.  Little Miss really enjoyed it!  The area was big enough so that people weren't on top of each other, which was nice.  

I was disappointed that Little Miss cost almost as much as me to get in - because of that I doubt we'll go back, especially since we have a membership to the Y that has a pool and several friends with pools.  But we did have a fun adventure for the afternoon!

I can't believe I haven't blogged about this yet - my husband gave me the BEST gift for Mother's Day - an iPad!  He's had an iPhone for a while now, but I've resisted getting one because I don't want our monthly phone bill to go up.  Well the iPad has been great.  I absolutely love reading books on it, and it's so light!  I also have been using it a lot in the kitchen - I don't have to print off recipes all of the time anymore!


Little Miss loves all of the games I have on it - in fact, I think she has more apps than I do!  


Do you have an iPad?  What are your favorite apps?  I'm still looking for great ones.  I love the Daily Suduko app, and I have a pretty good crossword puzzle app too.  

Happiness Is....

Updating your wardrobe for cheap!  I admit it, when the seasons change, I always want to update my clothes – at least a little bit!  I’m not into keeping up with the latest trends, but it is nice to have something different to add to the mix!

The other day I went to my favorite thrift store and picked up some great updates for my wardrobe.  I got three cute skirts and a pair of capris, all for $7! 

I love the buttons on these capris from Talbots!

Even though I’m saving money, I still try to follow the one item out for every item in rule.  My husband would tell you that it shouldn’t be a problem for me – I have plenty of clothes I don’t wear!

Happiness Is....A Night Out

Last night, my In-laws were kind enough to watch Little Miss so I could go take a cooking class at Distinctive Kitchens.  They picked Little Miss up an hour before the class so they could take her out to dinner, so I decided to head to the Fish House Deck for a Ladies' Night cocktail.  I didn't even bother trying to meet friends, since I only had about 45 minutes, but it was great to sit outside, have a drink, and listen to some great music. 

The Sangria:  AVV Temptation Zinfandel, amaretto, and peach and raspberry liqueurs gently mixed with fresh juices and fresh-muddled fruits . Served tall on the rocks.

After that I headed to DK for the vegan cooking class.  I knew the teacher, Bonnie, from veggie potlucks, and it was so much fun!  I'm definitely going to take another class there.  We tried a lot of really good recipes - I can't wait to share some of them with you!  

Sadly, I didn't take pictures of all of the dishes - we were having too much fun!  I finally remembered to take some pictures when we were wrapping up.  I'm thinking I may try this dessert with Little Miss!

It was so delicious!  I think the local blueberries are perfect for it right now!

Happiness Is....

When I saw this blog hop on Rub Some Dirt On It, I knew I had to participate!

You see, yesterday was not a great evening for me, and when I woke up I still wasn't in the best of moods.  Our life is in a bit of limbo right now, and limbo is not something I deal well with!

But fortunately I always have my beautiful girl to cheer me up.

She always knows what to say to make things better.

I have great food to cook and eat

I'm getting hungry just looking at that!

And occasionally a nice libation as well.
