Green Blog Hop

How exciting!  Today I get to co-host a green blog hop!  I love the great green community I've been able to become a part of because of the internet!

THIS WEEKS THEME IS: switching to natural bath, body or beauty care products. I admit, I actually still have a long ways to go in this area!  I use great green products on Little Miss, but don't always do the same for myself!  One product I really like is Dr. Bronner's.  I put this soap in a foaming dispenser so a little goes a very long way!  We use it on skin and hair.   

Happiness Is....

When I saw this blog hop on Rub Some Dirt On It, I knew I had to participate!

You see, yesterday was not a great evening for me, and when I woke up I still wasn't in the best of moods.  Our life is in a bit of limbo right now, and limbo is not something I deal well with!

But fortunately I always have my beautiful girl to cheer me up.

She always knows what to say to make things better.

I have great food to cook and eat

I'm getting hungry just looking at that!

And occasionally a nice libation as well.

That's a super-yummy frozen mojito, courtesy of my Ninja (which I think is a great kitchen appliance, by the way!)

What's Blooming Wednesday - Blog Hop!

It's still hot with very little rain here, so we don't have a ton of blooms.

Can you believe it's supposed to get up to 100 today?  Wow!  

These are Little Miss' "Princess Flowers".

Snoopy dug the ones we planted earlier in the year up, so we promised her we'd replace them.  She looked all over and couldn't find any "Princess Flowers" until B finally found some in a pink pot - problem solved!

Here are some gladiolus that have come up as well.  So pretty with the sun shining through!

And some wildlife - this heron was eying the fish in our pond earlier this week.  It was a very young heron!

Five Question Friday!

TGIF!  I'm so glad it's Friday!


We don't have any real plans for the weekend, although I imagine we'll see my husband's parents at some point.  I liked the 5QFriday questions this week, so here they are!

1. Do you apologize to your kids?  

I do!  I think it's really important to let your children know that WE ALL make mistakes and WE ALL should apologize for them.    If you can't respect your children, how can you expect them to respect themselves?  

2. What color are your nails right now? 

The color they grow out - I don't paint my nails, they get chipped too easily.  

3. When you were growing up, how difficult was it for you to stay home from school 
sick? (As in, did you have to vomit or just say "I don't feel good".) 

I actually liked school, so I imagine if I said I was sick I could stay home.  I don't recall trying to "pull one over" on my parents, and I don't recall a time when I was sick but they forced me to go.  

4. When is the last time you bought a new comforter for your bed?  


Wow, it's been a long time.  Probably 7 years or so.  We bought a really nice one, and have a couple of different covers for it.  Plus, we don't use it in the summer, so I imagine we'll have it a while longer!

5. Favorite website(s)?  


There are so many!  Amazon, Woot, all of the different blogs, lots of vegan cooking sites - I'm a web junky!

Five Question Friday!

It's time for some more Five Question Friday!  I haven't participated in a while - I love the questions this week!  I hope all of you mamas have a wonderful Mother's Day!   

1. Have you ever had roommates?  

I've had a lot of roommates!  All through college I had them, and even for a while after getting my "real" job.  I think it's a great way to learn about other people, save money, and make new friends!  

2. How many names do you/your children have? (i.e. Prince Charming William Phillip Arthur Louis John Jacob Jingleheimer-Schmidt)  

Little Miss just has three names - first, middle, and last.  However, we called her Moon Geranium until she was born!

3. Did you watch the Royal Wedding?  

Not live, but I did watch it!  I kept it on the TV in the background most of that morning.  I LOVED her wedding gown!

4. What is the messiest room in your house?  

Our "closet room" (and yes, it is an actual room).  Thank goodness others can't really see it!

5. What is your ideal mothers day?  

Sleeping in, a yummy breakfast, and relaxing with my family.  Oh, and having the magic fairy come and clean the house for me!

Also, I thought I'd mention that Little Miss' swim lessons are going much better now!  I'm glad we didn't give up, she's having such a great time!  We're definitely enrolling in them again to keep the momentum going!

Hello and welcome to all of you who are new here from the Ultimate Blog Party!  My blog is about my journey to be green - I've tried to be green all of my life, but to me it's a continuous (and fun!) journey!

I love to cook, so every Monday I'll have new recipes to share with you.  I love sharing recipes that are meatless and made from whole foods, but are also good for you!

I also love gardening - it's my therapy!  So every Wednesday I'll share what's blooming in my yard these days.  I also have a link-up on Wednesday, so I hope you'll join us!

On other days I post about my wonderful family, green products that I am reviewing and giving away, or local adventures that we are having!

I can't remember the name of this tree, but we planted it a few years ago and have been enjoying it's blooms ever since!  The bees love it too.  

The Camellias are ending their season - they will be missed!

Happy Friday!  I'm looking forward to the weekend, since the husband will be home!  This constant time away has really been getting to me lately.  A good quality weekend and I'll be ready to face everything again!

Five Question Friday

Good Morning!  It’s time for Five Question Friday – which means it’s almost time for the weekend!  I’m still trying to think of some fun activities for the weekend – if you have any ideas let me know!

1.  Do you know what your REAL hair color is?  I don’t dye my hair, so yes I know what color it is!  Unfortunately there is some gray coming through these days, but I’m still holding off on the dying!

2.  Do you plan ahead for summer, or fly by the seat of your pants?  We don’t have children in school yet, so it’s all the same to us.

3.  What is your favorite meal to cook?  I love cooking just about anything, so this is a hard one.  I guess curries, because I love eating them so much : )

4.  Do you get offended by not receiving thank yous?  No, sadly I think the days of thank you are coming to an end.  I teach my daughter to say please and thank you, and we need to get better at writing thank you notes, but I do my best not to expect much out of others.

5.  How did you meet your best friend?  My husband is my best friend.  I met him at a friend’s birthday party.  We went on a boating adventure (it wasn’t officially a date) a few days later, and we’ve been together ever since!
